#BIMpill – Supplier Assessment (1)

La pillola di oggi è la prima di una serie di quattro riguardanti il processo di assessment che dovrebbe essere portato avanti prima della scelta di un fornitore quando si affronta un processo BIM. In particolare, ho deciso di affrontare l’argomento a partire dai vecchi standard, ancora in voga, perché purtroppo il nuovo standard nella ISO 19650 non fornisce strumenti operativi e spesso vedo progetti che ancora fanno riferimento al BS:1192 e alla relativa PAS.

Nel vecchio standard, l’assessment era parte del BIM Execution Plan, a sua volta considerato allegato al contratto.

In particolare, veniva considerato un processo propedeutico alla redazione del cosiddetto Pre-Contract BIM Execution Plan, opportunamente riassunto in una porzione chiamata Supply Chain Assessment Summary, in cui dovevano confluire assessment relativi alle risorse (a prescindere dal BIM), assessment specifici sulle capacità di modellazione informativa e assessment sull’infrastruttura IT.

Ne ho scritto nel dettaglio quando la parte 2 della PAS è andata in revisione, qui, ma anche in uno dei primi articoli del lontano 2015, in cui parlavo del Project Implementation Plan.

I template più utilizzati sono ancora quelli del Construction Project Information Committee, che trovate a questo indirizzo. Il BIM assessment form si compone di quattro sezioni:

  1. Gateway questions: domande che riguardano la volontà di scambiare dati all’interno del progetto;
  2. 12 Areas of BIM.
  3. BIM Project Experience: una sorta di portfolio BIM;
  4. BIM Capability questionnaire, il cui obiettivo è quello di aiutare il cosiddetto “BIM enabling team” a identificare la formazione e il supporto necessari.

Nella prossima pillola, però, vedremo come le cose sono cambiate con l’introduzione della ISO 19650. Per il momento, accontentiamoci di considerare che questo assessment dovrebbe essere fatto prima della scelta del fornitore o, ancora meglio, dovrebbe attingere ad una mappatura sempre aggiornata dei fornitori e dei consulenti normalmente utilizzati. Si tratta di uno dei principi della ISO 9001, presupposto imprescindibile per il lavoro efficiente in BIM, ovvero la cosiddetta Supplier Evaluation.
