Kaori Yuki deve aver visto Profumo, non c’è dubbio, perché questo suo nuovo lavoro riguardo ad un maestro profumiere dallo straordinario olfatto è intriso di rimandi e suggestioni a quel mondo. Il risultato è nuovamente un prodotto ibrido, che ancora una volta risente profondamente delle ossesioni della mangaka. Ancora una volta troviamo un protagonista statico affiancato ad una co-protagonista energica, come in Angel Sanctuary, e ancora una volta troviamo un esperto di un settore insolito che usa la propria abilità per risolvere dei delitti. Non che io disprezzi le storie brevi, ma dopo Angel Sanctuary Kaori Yuki non sembra più in grado di comporre una storia organica o inventare nuovi personaggi e sembra essersi accontentata di produrre divertissment gotici come questo. E il tratto, che comunque rimane tra i miei preferiti, sembra risentire di questa mancanza d’ispirazione: scene simili ad altre già disegnate, carente studio nel look dei personaggi, quasi totale assenza di splash page. Peccato, perché comunque questo “Perfume master” resta il prodotto gradevole di un’autrice di talento, che potrebbe fare decisamente meglio.
