#BIMpill – Common Data Environment “distribuito”

La pillola di questa settimana è dedicata al Common Data Environment, l’Ambiente di Condivisione dei Dati, e in particolare al fraintendimento tra il termine che indica l’ambiente nel suo insieme, l’ecosistema che governa il flusso dei dati, e la singola soluzione tecnologica che può essere utilizzata per condividere le informazioni o per gestire alcuni processi. Che la prossima volta magari se usiamo due termini diversi è meglio.

In particolare ci viene esplicitamente in soccorso la guida britannica sull’applicazione della ISO 19650:

There is a common industry misconception that the CDE is a technology solution only and that it is always a single solution. ISO 19650-1 clause 11.1 clarifies that a range of technologies might be required.
It is therefore important to establish the functionality needed, and how single or multiple systems might support this functionality, early in a project. Where multiple systems are needed, consideration should be given to how they interface with each other as necessary.

In italiano ci si riferisce a questo concetto anche con l’espressione “AcDat diffuso”. Si tratta dello scenario di fatto più comune, anche se spesso non formulato né compreso in questi termini: il lavoro locale viene svolto in un ambiente (che deve comunque rispondere alle caratteristiche base, ovvero la centralità dell’informazione e la capacità di effettuare un versioning), scambi di informazioni su workflow dedicati come la clash detection avvengono grazie a piattaforme e sistemi autonomi, ecc. ecc.

Utilizzate BIMtrack per condividere le segnalazioni di risoluzione delle interferenze? Parte del Common Data Environment. Lavorate in locale sui server aziendali e condividete in modo asincrono i modelli su BIM360? Sia BIM360 che il server aziendale sono parte del Common Data Environment. Condividete le informazioni tra consulenti su un hub di BIM360 e poi ne usate un altro per la consegna al cliente finale? Tutto normale. Tutto parte del Common Data Environment.

Nello studio dei flussi quindi non si tratta di copiare gli schemi della ISO 19650 o di descrivere l’albero delle cartelle (che, diciamocelo, non importa a nessuno e forse potremmo iniziare ad usare metadati, al posto delle cartelle), ma bisogna descrivere esattamente come si pensa di preservare l’integrità e l’univocità delle informazioni all’interno di un flusso tanto complesso e articolato.
