La giornata del polpettone medievale

Ebbene sì. Dopo la giornata del polpettone preistorico, ieri è stata la giornata del polpettone medievale (beh, più o meno). Su Merlin ho già accennato qualcosa: a quanto detto alla cara Isabelle, che cosa posso aggiungere? C’è anche il drago più brutto dai tempi del lupo mannaro di Harry Potter, il tizio di Buffy che fa Uther Pendragon, la Liv Tyler dei poveri che fa Morgana e dei tizi in mutande che urlano a caso. A parte questo, a tratti non è fatto male: l’incanto musicale della strega è piuttosto bello, e… l’incanto musicale della strega è piuttosto bello. Per fortuna è una miniserie.

Stroncata da questa cosa orribile, ho avuto quindi la bella pensata di vedere In the name of the king: a Dungeon Siege tale. Chiaramente ero in vena di farmi del male.
Per chi non fosse familiare con il videogioco, ecco di che cosa si tratta: il regno è attaccato dalle forze del male e il giocatore, che interpreta un agricoltore, deve partire per sconfiggerle. Lungo la sua strada incontrerà altri avventurieri che lo aiuteranno nel suo percorso da semplice agricoltore ad eroe e re.

Mi sono confusa con la trama di Gothic. La trama di Dungeon Siege è questa: il regno è attaccato dalle forze del male e il giocatore, che interpreta un agricoltore, deve partire per sconfiggerle. Lungo la sua strada incontrerà altri avventurieri che lo aiuteranno nel suo percorso da semplice agricoltore ad eroe e re.
Bene.
Detto questo, qual è la trama del film? Semplice. Il regno è attaccato dalle forze del male e il gioc… volevo dire Jason Statham, che interpreta un agricoltore, deve partire per sconfiggerle. Lungo la sua strada incontrerà altri avventurieri che lo aiuteranno nel suo percorso da semplice agricoltore ad eroe e re.
Ecco fatto.
Cos’altro posso aggiungere? C’è tutto. Dalla profezia agli orchi stile Uruk-hai di Peter Jackson, dalla fanciulla che vuole combattere al mago cattivo, dalle amazzoni dei boschi al vecchio mentore che muore (beh, i vecchi mentori che muoiono in realtà sono due), dal grande amore al rapimento della bella, con tanto di colpo di scena nel più puro stile Luke io sono tuo padre. E tutto ciò con un cast d’eccezione: il buzzurro che correva in Crank, un’ex Giovanna d’Arco ex Deianira, Gimli, Hellboy, Painkiller Jane, una checca isterica, il classico capitano delle guardie nero che fa molto politically correct, un inutile spartano e, dulcis in fundo, le star: Burt Reynolds nei panni del re e Ray Liotta nei panni del mago cattivo. Parliamone. Guardate solo che faccia che hanno nella seconda versione della locandina.
A parte questo, che già sarebbe sufficiente, la colonna sonora è la cosa più fastidiosa che io abbia mai sentito. Violini scordati e impazziti "suonati" da un sordo epilettico mentre viene selvaggiamente sodomizzato da Howard Shore e da tutta la London Orchestra. E non intendo uno alla volta. Una cosa terribile.
Non lo guardate.
