"All this he saw, for one moment breathless and intense, vivid on the morning sky; and still, as he looked, he lived; and still, as he lived, he wondered."

2020 Advent Calendar [16] – Maria Stoian

I already talked about Maria Stoian, last year, when I featured her comic Take it as a compliment in my selection of readings for gender violence awareness. She writes on The Nib and she’s active in lots of awareness campaigns including the UK Trans Awareness, as you can see from her linktree. Another artist worth supporting. Her Etsy shop is here and you can grab the chance to buy some of her comics (One Month in Malmö, Some Comics by Maria or the Everything is Scary notebook). If you’re looking for something festive, though, you might want to take a look at the Runaway Tree card, or the one with people skiing. Although Princess Leia’s portrait always makes for a fine gift. On her website you also find other objects.
Her shop is closed for festivities, as it’s inevitable the closer we get to Christmas, but check out her work and bookmark her for when she’ll be back.

I warned you I would try and do a sort of Advent Calendar recommending you an indipendent artist and illustrator each day till Christmas: I’m not making any promises, let’s see if I can keep this up.

Isaac Asimov’s “Fantasy” collection

I take issue with this volume, and not because they’re short stories and you’re bound to like some more than the others: they’re all delightful, with very few and negligible exceptions. No, my problem is curatorial: I take issue that instead of grouping all the
